Results Day

So, SQA results day is approaching - Wed/Thurs August 4/5th to be exact. We'd love to hear how you do!

If you feel you need some advice about what to do next, or just a chat and the chance to tell us how you did, then you can. Here is how to contact the LEAPS office.

SAAS Finance Clinics

Got your SAAS application in yet?

We've been lucky to arrange some time from our lovely colleagues at SAAS (Student Awards Agency for Scotland) to come in and host 2 Student Finance Clinics during the week.

This session is for you if:

a) you've still to complete your SAAS applications

b) you aren't sure how to fill your application in

c) you're not sure what you're entitled to

d) you have some general questions about student funding

SAAS are the experts, so this is a great opportunity to get your application in with their help. It's also worth knowing that if your application is not in on time, you might not get your funding when your course starts - not good!

If you want to come along and complete your application, here is what you should bring with you:

- your SAAS reference number if you've applied before

- your National Insurance number & Passport number

- your bank sort code & account number

- your institution & course details- your household income

The SAAS team will be here at the following times and venue:

Monday 21st June, 11.00 - 14.00 & Tuesday 22nd June, 12.30 - 15.00

What to bring with you

This is just a quick reminder of what to bring with you on the 20th. The list may seem a little obvious, but someone always forgets something!

Remember: dinner, breakfast, bed linen and towels will be provided.

*Toiletries (toothbrush/toothpaste, some soap-like product with which to clean yourself with)
*Clothes, underwear etc. (some comfy clothes and shoes for social events)
*Pjamas, nightdress or whatever you wear in bed
*Hairdryer (if it's essential)
*Mobile phone and contact details of your nearest and dearest
*Some pens and notepad (essential)
*Alarm clock (we won't be waking you up in the morning)
*Any medication you take (we won't have any spare)
*Some money, bank cards etc. for lunches and exploring Edinburgh (social events are paid for, but snacks etc. aren't)

DON'T BRING:
*Sleeping bad, bed linen etc.
*Ready meals
*Your favourite pet
*Any one else

You will have to take full responsibility for your belongings, so be sure to look after your valuables and your accommodation key during your stay.

Sorry, but pets will have to stay at home (no matter how cute they are).

Confirmation of place

So, those of you who have a place on Campus10 will know by now and should have received a confirmation form & info in the post (if you got an email saying you have a place but haven't received anything in the post, please contact Alice in the LEAPS office asap!)

Please return the completed yellow form and photos to us by Friday May 7th at the latest.
If you don't return your forms, we may offer your place to another student.

Applications Update!

The deadline for applications is different depending on where you go to school. Read below for more:

1. If you are LEAPS-eligible and go to a school in the Scottish Borders, the deadline was 16th April. We will consider late applications, but cannot make any guarantees about places.
2. If you are LEAPS-eligible and go to a school in Edinburgh & the Lothians, it's first-come, first-served as of Friday 16th April. We will accept applications until we are full and up to the 30th April at the latest.

Hope that clears up any confusion. If you have any questions about this, please contact the LEAPS office.

CAMPUS10 DEADLINE IS APPROACHING!

The application deadline for Campus10 is FRIDAY APRIL 16th.

All successful applicants will hear by email by April 19th. If you are successful, you will recieve a confirmation pack in the post which has to be completed and returned to LEAPS by MAY 7th at the latest.

Remember: if you are worried whether your application will get to us in the post on time, you can also email us your application details to leaps@ed.ac.uk (put 'Campus10' in the subject line).

A flavour of Campus10

Campus10 will take place on Sunday 20 - Friday 25 June 2010.
More to follow...in the meantime, see below.

Campus10 is open to all LEAPS eligible school-leavers in the Scottish Borders who have a university offer for 2010. It is a week-long preparation course for university, including five nights in university accommodation, academic subject tasters, a dedicated learning skills course, visiting speakers and a full social programme. The complete programme is free.

Campus10 will be promoted in schools from February 2010 onwards, with an initial deadline for applications in April 2010.
